Weekly Writing Assignment

A weekly writing contest open to everyone.

A quick clarification about how the contest works

Since launching this site earlier this week, there’s been some questions about how the contest works and when new assignments are given out. I’ll also be updating the rules page shortly, but here’s how this works for now.

Each week, Weekly Writing Assignment will publish a new assignment. Generally, this will be done on Sundays at midnight. The due date will generally be one week after the assignment is revealed. Assignments will not be revealed before that.

Once all entries are in, the Weekly Writing Assignment staff (mainly myself) will read through the entries. We (I) will pick a winner and publish it. Depending on the volume of entries, this will be published on the Wednesday following the due date.

We (I) may or may not choose to publish any of the other entries aside from the winner. Depends on if we get some really good ones.

It’s possible that at some point in the future, readers will be able to vote for their favorite submission. That will require a higher level of programming than I have or have time for (but if you’re willing to volunteer, please step forward!).

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email me at weeklywritingassignment@gmail.com.

Good luck!
